On a rainy July 24th we dropped 2 pontoon boats at the Crooked Lake boat launch and ventured on the Chain of Lakes (see further description below) to Cheboygen.  The crew members were John and Robin Ehardt, Jim and Jennifer Bladek, Mike and Margaret Wilson and Jan and Lori Hesprich.  We tolerated and dodged rain for 2 hours and once it broke we found ourselves at the Pinehurst Inn (on Iron River) for a new attitude.  Once we left after a few adult beverages we were ready to tackle the rest of the trip.  In the Cheboygan River we stopped at Pier 33 for dinner....it was a great choice!  We reached the Best Western on the Cheboygan River around 8pm.  After a good night sleep, we all hopped on our pontoon boat and headed to Lake Huron.  We got some good lock experience at the Cheboygan Lock......touched Lake Huron....saw the Mackinaw Bridge.....and quickly turned back due to rough water.  It was a cool and windy day back thru the lakes and rivers to the boat launch.....but we all made it and said we can't wait to do this adventure again......hopefully with sunny and 80 degree weather.
